Wine Descriptions

Riesling
Normally a good Riesling should be bright in colour, crisp in the mouth, dry to semi dry, with strong citrus flavours (lime, lemon) and is perfect with fish.
A nice aged Riesling becomes rich golden in colour hints of honey flavour.

Semillon
Australian Semillon can be best described as a soft, dry white wine. A good Semillon can age gracefully developing rich honey/toasted flavour, with a deep golden colour. Some Semillon wines can also be distinguished by crisp, herbaceous and citrus characters.

Sauvignon blanc
This classic clean crisp variety can be fruity with flavours of gooseberry, asparagus, passionfruit and lychee. It has a long dry finish and with great flavour and easy to drink.

Chardonnay
A dry, fresh full-bodied wine with ripe melon, peach, buttery aromas and flavours. A wine best enjoyed young, it’s easy to drink and doesn’t need food to partner it.

Verdelho
Full bodied white wine with distinctive tropical fruit and grassy characters, fantastic with Asian food.

Pinot gris
Light easy drinking white wine, which can be aromatic and dry.

Merlot
Dark berry and plummy tastes can be found in merlots. Easy drinking without being complicated. When buying a merlot in a blend it gives it more body creating instant charm and mellowness.

Pinot noir
Light coloured cherry red colour, and flavours of strawberry, cherry, prune and blackberry. The wine is not full bodied rather thinner without being weak or fruity.

Cabernet Sauvignon
One of the great world varieties, it produces wines with great flavour, a deep purple colour and a wonderful bouquet. A good cabernet sauvignon will be soft and flavourful, and ideal drinking companion to a lamb roast.

Shiraz
A high-quality versatile grape on its own or as a blend. From cool climate regions shiraz wines are usually spicy and peppery while warmer regions contribute earthy, leathery, licorice or berry flavours. Ideal with a steak or a backyard BBQ.
